Beginning May 1st, we will transition to our 2021-2022 season. We are hopeful that we will feel safe to participate in in-person meets this next season.
Please understand that Xcel level requirements can be fulfilled with a wide range of skills. Your gymnast will be working on expanding their skill set for the upcoming competitive season. Gymnastics is very much a “use it or lose it” sport. While we drill parts of skills using a non-linear pedagogy, gymnastics skills themselves are learned & build upon each other in a linear fashion.
While gymnasts progress at their own rate, it is important to understand that each gymnast must demonstrate consistency as well as coach-ability of her skills so coaches can safely progress her to the next challenge. It is with that in mind, that strong attendance facilitates each gymnast’s overall Gemini experience.
We hope that your gymnast has loved her virtual season & will continue with us for the 2021-2022 season. Please mark your calendars with the expanded practice time beginning May 1st!
Xcel gymnasts will learn choreography for balance beam & floor routines at workshops during the Summer/Fall of 2021. These workshops will be in addition to the practices that are focused on skill acquisition. Dates and times of workshops will be announced in June.
All Xcel gymnasts will be entered into Gemini’s In-House Meet & 4 sanctioned meets for the 2021-2022 season. Our In-House Meet will be held in December 2021, and the remainder of the meets will be TBD in January, February, March and April of 2022. We will inform all families of the meet weekends in the Fall of 2021 once the meet calendar becomes available.
The State Meet is NOT part of the regular season. State Meets require earning a qualifying score at a sanctioned meet by a qualifying deadline. Competing in the State Meet is optional if your gymnast qualifies. If you and your gymnast decide to compete in the State Meet additional costs will be incurred that are not included in the Xcel Competition Bundle.
